How can we help you?

Bullying

Bullying

It is a sad fact that bullying of children at school exists.  Bullying can take many forms from physical or verbal abuse to bullying via text messages or the internet (cyber bullying).  This can happen on or off school premises.

If not addressed promptly, bullying can be disruptive to learning and cause significant trauma to a child.  It can also be deeply distressing for parents.

Schools have an obligation to safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils but schools will not guarantee that they can prevent a child from being bullied whilst in or travelling to and from school.

Parents should ensure that all complaints of bullying are put in writing to the school.  It is helpful to follow the school’s internal complaints procedure which should be made available on request.  The matter may need to be referred to the Local Authority and thereafter to the Local Government Ombudsman.
