Marriage Makes Men Fat, Research Suggests

  • Posted

A study conducted by Leeds Metropolitan University has revealed that men ‘let themselves go’ and pile on the pounds after marriage.

The study revealed that married men develop more of a sweet tooth and find themselves eating more cakes, buns and pastries as well as drinking larger amounts of wine.

The study suggested that wives may purposely overfeed their husbands’ stomachs to make them less attractive to other women.

Tam Fry, a spokesperson at the National Obesity Forum, said that married men have larger waistlines because the wife “looks after her husband and the man just sits back and gets fat”.

However, it’s not all bad news for married men with the study revealing that married men eat more fruit and wholemeal bread and less burgers and kebabs perhaps due to having fewer nights out than they did when they were single!
